Using Thunder right now. Yet another app that doesn’t have properly functioning code formatting buttons for both inline code markup and code blocks. And it makes no distinction between single back ticks and triple back ticks. Ah well.

The rest of the features and design are pretty sick though, I’m trying to main it and I’m not feeling uncomfortable yet!

Ah, right! Yeah, I mean, I am using Sync, Boost and Thunder right now. Boost and Thunder don’t show ads (I paid the one-time fee on Boost) so it’s more like ⅓% that I see an ad, perhaps, if I used them all equally, which is probably sorta accurate. 😁 So it’s fine in my case.

I would however get a pihole if it worked in order to get rid of ads on YouTube on my TV. Because fuuuuuuu—…

Ads can be bad but Boost has a one-time small payment to remove ads, very good deal, and the ads on Sync don’t work (for me at least) 99% of the time, so I just see an empty space most of the time where the ads would be. 😁

Tried Raccoon just now, uninstalled instantly. Not very polished compared to other apps. My personal opinion.

I’m trying it out right now, it doesn’t feel very polished compared to others I main, like Sync or Boost.

Maybe it also depends on the topic. But there are always gonna be annoying people everywhere you go in life. 🥲

Honestly, I miss some subs. But I just cut my losses. The usability and UI of the site went to shit. The toxicity was horrible. The site policies went to shit. No third party apps. No point.

I only come back to answer necrobumps and one time to update my own post that was a support question where I managed to figure out the answer. I don’t want to leave behind those forum posts like in XKCD where they have the same issue but don’t answer anything. 😅

I think this depends highly on the type of community. (Although clearly I’m doing it to you right now. Sorry.)

Highly political topics and such are the worst, probably. But others where people come because of a shared interest, like a sport or food or animal or something, a hobby, I think tend to be more chill and mellow.

Same. Boost for Lemmy and Sync for Lemmy. Both awesome. Sync is my main, on the free plan.

Let’s just leave it 😅 I’m happy pretending Boost doesn’t work so that I have no reason to go back to Reddit.

I use GBoard (yeah I know, it’s just really good, but yes I am aware of the privacy concerns), but I use it without shapes. The letters and hold-characters are just… there, placed around in a qwerty arrangement. No “buttons”, so to say. I hope they don’t remove that functionality.

Reminds me of when I was in University and catching up with some lab work over the summer to get a passing grade. Was doing some 3D programming assignment and I spent I think 5 weeks debugging my stuff.

Turns out I needed to transpose two adjacent lines of code. No syntax errors, no runtime errors, just graphics pipeline not outputting what I expected. Was a nightmare. And not even satisfying to figure it out.
