i’m already doing this with gnome lol.
if my computer was older, probably xfce.
can you exemplify a few of the things you miss?
oh my observation comes from the blogs recommending it.
but i couldnt have put it better myself, except i think you mean 9070 XT
@op, they may suggest you to change your kernel version to support newer hardware, don’t do this unless you know what you are doing and can undo it from cli. its fine 90% of the time but can cause weirdness or no boot.
i want to try another distro than ubuntu, but the damn thing isnt giving me a single excuse to format my system. it doesnt break if you don’t fuck with it.
i think its more about modifying the system behavior, esp on desktop oses. i have many local services running on my server, and if set up right, its pretty much no maintenance at all.
theres pain but its also very satisfying to pull this kind of stuff off. im more of a stable system kind of guy these days.
you can either have a system to learn on, or a stable system to work on.
installs ubuntu, converts to mint. bam.
i have found a couple before but havent bothered with them, i don’t remember which they are but it sure peeved me off to be the only one told to “build it yourself”
solo devs can spin windows executables and mac installer but not linux…?
dont forget how they expect you to compile it. some projects offer a nice .msi for windows, a .whatever for mac, and then linux users just get a link to their github. i mean cmon.
is taking a screenshot that hard?
heres 1 (one) dopamine unit for you then
ubuntu LTS is like this for me, but i can’t recommend snaps. use it if you plan on uninstalling it and using flatpaks instead. problem-free after that.
i had a brief stint with mint and fedora and they are good too.
in general, regardless of distro, i wait for the .1 releases after a big update, doing this has saved my ass before.
exactly. thats unnecessarily complicated for someone on a rush for something that should be a functional progress bar.
its sad that this is what the country decided to do. FOSS has nothing to do with the wars waged by politicians, sometimes at the expense of the very people trying to collaborate together despite chauvinism.
i imagine it will sadly get worse as these types of conflicts escalate.
