What does this mean? What is “google play system”, is it different to “google play services”? Doesn’t that update itself? Are you describing something that’s specific to a particular device, ROM, or android version? Fancy giving us any more info at all?
Same in Summit. I guess there needs to be a standard that everyone follows, because currently I have a client which automatically handles normal other-instance links, and these link helpers actively break it!
Doesn’t Windows leave program files and data all over the place too?
!linuxphones@lemmy.ca and !linuxphones@lemmy.ml aren’t the busiest communities but there do seem to be a few people giving it a proper go
It’s pretty trivial to just keep your card in your pocket and use the bank’s website though
Well professional developers are often employed by companies that want make use of open source code to sell their proprietary code. It seems more likely to me that those companies will instruct their developers not to work on any GPL code rather than some big ideological shift in the individual developers.
Also I wonder how it handles reposts, i.e. the same link multiple times in one community
I would also like to know! This seems like advice from the early days of Android when the software was way more buggy, everything seems very stable nowadays and I rarely find myself needing to reboot because something is in a bad state.
I’m not going to buy one but I’m always interested to see what they can make
The thinner display also left more room for the battery—Google probably could have made the phone body thinner and left the cameras to stick out, but instead, the 9a has the largest battery ever put in a Pixel. Yes, Google actually did the thing we always chastise OEMs for not doing.
Big fan of this, I always thought huge lumpy cameras sticking out was a stupid trend.
This is great news! I imagine we’ll see some negative articles focusing on how they’re just re-releasing old hardware, but I feel anyone who cares about that wasn’t the target market for a Pebble anyway. Hopefully it goes well and we’ll see some actual new Pebbles next.
Well it’s my current phone and it’s bigger than the last one. Have you only been using massive phones if you think this is small?
Pixel 5 definitely doesn’t have a headphone jack. It’s also the biggest phone I’ve ever used! It is quite a nice device though.
I use Solaar on my desktop to remap gestures for a Logitech mouse, I would imagine it should work on a Deck too
I think Summit can do it too
I don’t think there’s any formal concept of a cross-post in Lemmy, the button in Summit will just create a new post with a link to the original and the description text quoted. They are essentially just two different posts.
Welcome! FYI you can type !android@lemmy.world to link a community
Heroic Launcher does them both too, probably a bit less slick though
Thanks! Weird that this doesn’t appear as a push notification like a normal software update.
