THE FINALS: Season 4 Power Shift - #45 Worldwide
That post is from 2021. Is there a more recent udpate?
Yeah, I was going to suggest a data export, as this will often give you a handful of files, most importantly would be a CSV containing all your posts. It would probably be relatively easy to automate the process with that file.
I’m a bit torn on the idea, myself. On one hand, fuck fascists, don’t let ‘em have an inch. But on the other hand, this does kinda take away a users’ freedoms with the software.
Honestly, I think it’s fine if it’s a plugin or something that you can install at your own discretion or something. Or if it’s baked-in, it should be an opt-in setting. I’m of the opinion that the actual software, itself, should be apolitical. It’s something I can respect the Lemmy devs for, after all; even though I disagree with their politics, the actual Lemmy code is politically agnostic, and I think that’s for the best.
Dan is constantly talking about buyout requests he’s receiving for Loops and Pixelfed, so much so that it makes me a bit suspicious of those claims. Nearly every other post I see from his Mastodon feed is bragging about another alleged buyout offer, and how he’s not for sale.
Has he ever shown proof of any of these offers he’s received? It’s not that I want to doubt him, but he’s been very persistent with this claim and I think it’s fair to scrutinize it at this point.
This is my thought on it, too. I don’t disagree with any of the point OP is making, but I think a larger issue is people misusing ActivityPub platforms and trying to make them into something they’re not. It’s not meant to be a messenger, it’s not meant for privacy. Everything being public and transparent is part of the core design of the Fediverse. The idea of private groups/posts on the Fediverse seems counterintuitive to me.
