I’m totally here for the sentiment, but I think it’s just because the average person might not know one or the other of these words. They’re both pretty specific in their usage.

Etymologoid is something like the history of a word.
The fact it’s not called “antomolgoy” is a tragically wasted opportunity.
This is actually how I remember the difference. Ents for ants, ets for etc.
